Laboratory Service
Our commitment to bringing you the best possible service extends to having a well equipped glazing laboratory on the premises. Having an experienced and highly skilled optical technician on-site allows us to fit most types of spectacle lens in-house.
If you want to re-use your existing frames but can’t manage without them, our laboratory service makes life easy. Once your lenses have been prepared (depending on your prescription this may take a few days) we can make you an appointment to have them fitted to your frames. In most cases you will only be without your glasses for about an hour. We can even make you a cup of tea or coffee while you wait.
Besides making up your new spectacles quickly and accurately, our technician, Rob enables us to provide a number of specialist glazing services, including fitting prescription lenses to camera eyepieces and rifle sights and making prescription dive masks and swimming goggles. We can even custom make polarized and non polarized clip on sunglasses to fit most spectacle frames.
Repair Service
Rob also provides a comprehensive repair service, including welding metal frames. In addition to miniature oxy-acetylene and hydrogen welding equipment for repairing stainless steel and metal alloy frames, he also has a specialist TIG welder, enabling him to weld pure titanium frames. Titanium frames can’t be repaired using traditional methods and we are one of the few practices in New Zealand to have all these facilities available on the premises.
The addition of a new laser welder enables even neater and more precise repairs to be performed, including replacing spring hinges.
Our repair service also includes supplying and fitting new hinges, joints, nose pads, screws, temples and other spare parts, in addition to straightening and adjusting spectacle frames. We can also replace the lenses in a wide variety of non-prescription sunglasses and clip-ons.
