This could be due to age related conditions like macula degeneration or cataract, hereditary conditions or a variety of other eye diseases. Whatever the cause, it is possible that using magnification, increasing contrast and improving lighting might be beneficial.

At Hey Optometrists we have a range of optical magnifiers in a variety of designs. These range from simple hand held magnifiers and lenses that clip onto your glasses, to illuminated stand magnifiers with high quality aspheric lenses and the latest built in LED lighting.

To help you find the best magnifier for your individual needs, we can provide a specific low vision assessment in addition to your usual eye examination. During this appointment, your optometrist will be able to demonstrate and advise you on lighting, magnification and other techniques to help you make the most out of your vision and, where possible, assist you with reading and other activities. We can also arrange referrals for additional specialised low vision services including CCTV magnifiers and other electronic and telescopic systems.
